Moisturising guide-Facts about your Face
Moisturising your skin is important- you cannot put moisture back into the skin but can protect what is already there against the drying effects of weather, central heating,astringents and neglect.
Different areas of the face and body require specific treatments,but generally, a facial product and body lotion is all you need with one or two extras for special problems.
It is very importent to use moisturiser every day-preferablybefore applying make-up, or after cleansing and toning.
Forehead
Your forehead, like your nose and chin, is part of the T-zone of your face, which is well supplied with oil glands. Moisturiser is needed unless weather conditions are particularly cold or dry,most skins will need only a light moisturising lotion during the day -With a richer cream at night . Dry sensitive skins which chap and flake easily need rich moisturising cream applied morning and evening. In summer use a product with a UV filter. While applying use upward and outward arc-like strokes.
Eyes
The Skin around the eyes is very thin and has few oil or sweat glands, so it’s very fragile.Moistiriser to be choosen is light,fluffy emulsions or gels, not heavy creams which can make eyes puffy . Gels feel fresh and make great revivers, and many products also claim to tighten the skin, smooth crepiness and lighten under-eye shadows. Apply with your ring finger and use a soft finger -printing motion below the eye, and a gentle patting one above it.
Cheeks
The cheekbones and the area near the nose may be prone to oilness, but the cheeks themselves are often dry . They need special protection, especially from extremes of temperature. Moisturiser to be used is -if your cheeks are very dry, use rich water-in-oil moisturising creams day and night. Oily or combination skins may need non-comedogenic products, which means they won’t creat blackheads. Apply a dot on, and blend gently up and out. Reapply if specially dry.
Nose to Chin
This area (part of the T zone ) is often oily and the chin in perticular is prone to spots and blackheads.moisturiser to be used if greasiness is a problem, is oil-free moisturiser.Dry areas need richer moisturiser, especially in winter. try one with UV filters. Apply a dot on the nose and chin and smooth in gently.
Throat
The throat is one of the first areas to show signs of ageing but it’s often ignored.Moisturiser to be used is rich protective cream or gel day and night -wheather it’s your normal moisturiser or one specially formulated for this area.Applying– massage cream in using long upward strokes from the collarbone to the jawline.
Lips
Lips have no oil glands so they are very prone to drying, cracking and chapping. the area around the mouth needs to be very elastic and lines form easily -especially if you smoke.Moisturiser to be used is waxy lipsalves during the day. During the summer choose one with a sunscreen, as the lips burn easily. at night extend your usual moisturising over the lips, and in winter during the day use a special lipcream. Apply using salve sticks regularly, pat on creams gently with fingertips and smooth in.
