Foundation
The secret of perfect make-up is what you might call the foundation. Foundation is the basis of all make-up. As the term indicates, it is the base upon which your make-up is built, foundation is a helpful protective covering for the skin. It protects a dry skin, helps maintain a normal skin, protects it from wind, sun, cold and dust and helps conceal minor flaws such as tiny veins, enlarged pores, and spotty discolorations whilst improving the texture of the skin. The manner in which foundation appears on the skin, depends upon how it is applied and blended, it should always be applied in such a way, as to tone down the bad points and to enhance the good ones. The secret of any successful make-up is to under-do it, so that the result is a natural-looking smooth finish.
Select a foundation cream which is the colour of your skin or a shade darker than it. It should be chosen to blend with your skin. If your skin is oily you will do best with a liquid foundation. A dry skin, does better with a creamy foundation and if you have a lovely natural skin, a mild application of liquid foundation will help to enhance your natural loveliness.

Before putting on a foundation cream, see to it that your face is spotlessly clean and’ the pores are closed.
Begin by sweeping your hair well back from your forehead then fix it in place with the help of a scarf or a headband. Then cleanse your skin by applying a cleansing cream or lotion to the face with the tips of your fingers. Gently massage the cream over your entire face and neck, and then remove off with cotton wool. When all trace of dirt has been removed, apply a skin freshener or astringent lotion with a small pad of cotton wool to tone the skin and close the pores, this will also help to remove -all traces of any remaining, even a slight film of Cleansing cream. You are ready to apply your Foundation cream. Apply a little to the forehead, cheeks, nose, chin, front and nape of the neck and ears.
Blend thoroughly with upward, outward strokes over the entire face, under the jaw line, back to the ears, over and around the eyelids and mouth. Cover all visible areas of the face and the neck. A few extra seconds of blending and gentle rubbing will give the desired even finish.

The keynote of applying foundation is to achieve smoothness and transparency so that your skin looks beautiful, vibrant and natural, both in the day and artificial light.
